Chesterfield Incinerator

Post  Christine on Sat Oct 10, 2009 11:39 pm

WE need to object against the incinerator. The group chesterfield against incineration have loads of information on it, apparently health affects can't be a reason why it isn't passed as they already have a environmental permit. This is because the particles Gasificaton produces are too small to measure! so there apparently isn't any guidelines. But what is known is that toxic waste will be burnt and dioxins produced the possible effects are 'unknown' but a toxicologist professor spoke at the henry fanshawe school on monday 5th october confirming the detrimental health affects.
There will also be many lorries transporting this toxic waste to the area and local business at the meeting warned they will relocate if the incinerator gets the go ahead.
People wanting to raise objection need to concentrate of the economic affects not the health aspect really as it cant be proved. All information is on the Chesterfield against Incineration website so if people know about it they can write of e-mail to the counsellors info on the site.

Apparently Dronfield will be affected due to the North -easterly prevailing wind.
.

There isn't much time for people to take action, as the next and final planning hearing could be in about 4 weeks it apparently will be a public meeting the Campaign will post details on their website so people can be a presence showing their objection by just being there.

[size=9]I believe Dronfield is a beautiful close knit community and don't want it tarnished by a incinerator, we want our children to recycle reduce and reuse not have toxic waste burnt above their heads, increased HGV's and 'clean' businesses leaving the area.

We are planning a public protest rally in Dronfield in November, and the more that can attend the better. Dates to follow - watch this space.

The final planning decision will be made in Matlock in December, as far as we know.

protest details taken from the chesterfield against incineration website

Please note:
until we have cleared this with the relevant authorities, including the
police and the local council, this date is only provisional.

We will rally in Cliffe Park, Dronfield (just up
Callywhite Lane) at 11am on Saturday November 7th. Try to get there
early. Please park your car considerately, and car share if possible.

Please bring whistles, rattles, banners and
placards - we are encouraging children to make their own placards and
banners - you might even get on TV!

We are contacting a wide cross section of local
media - TV, radio and press - to cover this event. It is hoped that
when the Matlock officials see the breadth and depth of our feelings
that they will have to reconsider the incinerator proposal.

After all, they are supposed to represent us…

I would like to congratulate those who have been working so hard in our area to put such a strong case for this outrageous proposal to be rejected. I hope that all their efforts will be rewarded by Derbshire County Council throwing out the plans. Keep the pressure up, and please, if you have not yet sent your objections to DCC, do so quickly.

Dronfield Against Incineration

Post  angelique on Fri Jan 22, 2010 12:50 am

The final decision meeting has been postponed to 22 February, although this date will only be confirmed to us closer to the day. Many of you have contacted us to volunteer their help and support and we are all working together to keep the pressure on DCC. They will soon make a decision that will affect our community tremendously so it is vital that we keep going until they feel there is no other way of dealing with this incinerator proposal but to stongly reject it.

If you would like more information and update on the Dronfield Campaign Group, please contact Angelique and Jill directly on malika30@hotmail.co.uk, 01246 290796.

All the best,
Angelique
