Yorkshire Water and sewers, Derbyshire County Council and road gulleys
We have been having loads of hassle with Yorkshire Water and their apparent lack of concern for their customers or the environment.
Please have a look at www.unstonegreen.co.uk and sympathise with us!
Derbyshire County Council come a close second, in respect to the road gulley system.
It is always us to have to do all the pushing and phoning for action, and the worst thing is, that is isn't our sewers or our gulleys! They belong to YW and DCC, but we get all the stuff in our garden that the pipes don't deal with!
A bit fed up really!

Waste water and surface water drainage
Hello again smithy. I've had a look at the website you mentioned, and yes, I do sympathise. Here we are in one of the highest parts of Dronfield and this section of our road is subject to flooding during periods of heavy rain. I too have been busy phoning DCC and YW! When a YW technician visited recently (it was not raining very hard!), he inspected the main sewer at a nearby chamber and said that the pipe is not large enough to cope with maximum flow. Another building to go up soon, another input to that pipe.
When the tide rises again I'm going to take some photos.

Yorks Water back in good books
Since they fitted, after eight or nine years of battling, a 'flood mitigation device' aka non-return valve to the sewer a few doors up. This means we should no longer get raw sewage pumped onto out drive. However, the fight is still on with Derbyshire Council Highways, whose gulley drain water adds to the stream the other side of our property, the flow of which gets frequently blocked, flooding our garden and my business. Why do these things take so much time to resolve?
derbyshire County Council
Now battling with environmental officers at DCC. You would not believe that it is you and I who pay their wages. A whole week after a visit, they still have not managed to get a certain form to me to fill in, return with fifty quid, all to help them get rid of their road gulley water. One day, I will write a book.
